@venue

London’s weather was dreary and cold the day we arrived at our Quintess apartment at 5 St James’s Street. Lunch was our first order of business, and since it was already late, we wanted to eat close by. At 7 St. James’s, @venue was the perfect choice.

A Place Like Home

Our first experience with an apartment short-stay rental service left us so impressed that we cannot ever imagine anything else.  The apartment we chose couldn’t have been better located.  It was also clearly someone’s home so there was that warm English feel rather than an institutional one.

Amaya

This is our second visit in a year to what may be our favorite Indian restaurant in the Indian restaurant capital of Europe–London.  Happy to report that the ₤45 tasting menu still is entrancing.

E&O

Since we love Eight Over Eight so much we decided to try its more popular relative, located in the now trendy Notting Hill area, a 5-minute walk from either the Ladbroke Grove or Notting Hill Gate tube station.

Eight Over Eight

This one is a real favorite.  And well worth the second visit.  Of  course, we love Asian food, and Eight Over Eight and its trendier sister (mother), E&O, (see separate listing)  do a great job, from the modern, airy décor, down to the friendly service.  The food, however, is the main reason to go.

Hibiscus

On a recent trip to the London Apple Store on Regent Street, we had noticed this restaurant and then read a rave review of it in “Time Out” so we knew our instincts were right.

Le Caprice

Finally, we stumbled into Le Caprice at 2:30, and wonder of wonders, they had a table for us right away. The place was packed, and there was even a line when we left at 4:00.

Lindsay House

We decided to celebrate Thanksgiving at this favorite, and it was a great decision. The clientele were all properly dressed, ties and jackets no less, and the staff was friendly and professional.
